Bacon & avocado salad followed by chicken cacciatore

Inspired by Tesco’s Real Food magazine, we had bacon and avocado salad with cheesy croûtons followed by chicken cacciatore, a dish which regularly tops the BBC Good Food list of favourite recipes and that I’ve been meaning to make for quite a while.

Bacon salad with cheesy croûtons

The salad was great, and the chicken was falling-off-the-bone tender in a wonderfully rich sauce. I’ll be making giant croûtons using this simple recipe again, and looking at more warm salads to serve in the future. I’ll also remember to check that olives are pitted before I scatter them generously into a dish. You live, you learn…
