Pork steak with bean mash

May 8, 2011

Taken from the BBC Good Food website, this is a simple meal to put together in twenty minutes with a handful of ingredients.

Pork steak, sugar snaps and bean mash

It seems to cry out for some green vegetables of some sort, so I dished it up with sugar snaps, just for some added freshness. The bean mash is a great alternative to mashed potato, and benefits from the extra flavour of the onion, garlic and coriander. The amount of stock seems excessive, and we had to drain the beans prior to mashing.

I suspect the pork steaks could have benefited from being brushed with lemon and olive oil and then griddled rather than grilled. Not a bad meal, but as pork meals go I prefer the orange and balsamic pork dish we had earlier in the year.
