Jamie Oliver’s broccoli orchiette

January 12, 2011

I’ve been pretty lazy these last few days, and tonight marks a return to more enthusiastic cooking.

This is the fourth recipe I’ve tried from Jamie’s 30 Minutes book and it’s another keeper. The broccoli was lovely and fresh and contrasted piquantly with the deep earthiness of the sauce. The courgette salad is pure umami – the coolness of the courgette and the creaminess of the bococcini really brought out by the vivid combination of fresh chili and lemon, and the flair of colour in the dish is visually striking.

Annoyingly the cantaloupe I bought some days ago still lurks in a corner of the kitchen, steadfastly refusing to ripen, so the prosciutto and melon salad will have to wait for another day.
